Blue Skies Smiling At Me

The smoke has cleared, the skies are blue and the bees are buzzing like mad in every blossom they can find. Of which there are many right now!

The apples, crabapples and lilacs have hundreds of them buzzing around. I stood beneath one of the crabapple trees yesterday and watched and listened in amazement as they hummed in loud chorus. It’s very soothing even for someone who is deathly allergic to hymenoptera. I never feel threatened by the honey bees though, just the wasps.

Speaking of them, they’re nowhere to be seen this year thanks to my putting up fake wasp nests early. We have had a couple come through but they keep going and don’t seem to be sticking around to build their own nests. Which means I can relax and just enjoy the views…
