Magical, Mystical Sunrise

Every sunrise is a present, a gift from God above,
Gift-wrapped with scarlet ribbons and tied with bows of love.
Each is a new beginning, a time to start anew,
While all the stars are sleeping, and the rose is fresh with dew.
Each day’s a new creation, too lovely to ignore,
And we may not find a blessing, just outside our door.
We cannot keep the past, like fireflies in a jar,
Nor journey to the future by wishing on a star.
Every sunrise is a blessing, a gift for just today,
Rejoice, my friend, embrace it before it fades away!

While we have had some pretty amazing sunset views, I dream of running the snowy trails with my fluffy pups one of these mornings. We haven’t taken the team over night anywhere yet, though, which is what we would need to do in order to take them out for a sunrise run.

Technically we *could* get up before dawn, load them into their cozy, straw-filled dog boxes and head up the mountain at an ungodly hour in order to have them all harnessed up and hooked into their positions on the line and then running down the trail in time to see the sun peak over the Tetons… but that’s a tall order since we’re about an hour from the best trails for that.

The Tetons are close enough I can see them out of our window, but far enough away that to get near there for a sunrise run it takes quite a bit of strategic planning and an early alarm clock.

And then comes the real noise! Oh my goodness. The noise.

The moment there is even a hint that we might be just thinking about considering maybe going mushing, the pups go absolutely nuts and the resulting vocalization of their enthusiasm can be quite ear piercing. We like to spare the neighborhood that and only take them out during acceptable hours.

But, if we could find the right cabin to rent.. or maybe set up our toy hauler better for winter.. or buy a new dog hauling trailer with living quarters.. or something.. we could wake up to a run very similar to this:

I think that was taken in Finland so their trees are a bit different than ours, but still, it would have that level of magic that you can really only find mushing at dawn.

I think.

Hopefully someday I’ll find out! 🙂
