Ah, the Christmastime snow has fallen and more importantly, it has finally stuck. I don’t know about you, but I like my snow to arrive just before Thanksgiving and I prefer it to stay rather than coming and going and melting off into a never ending boggy muck of mud puddles in between.

This sort of snow is so much better. I love waking up to these post card looking, winter morning scenes. The frosty cold air, the blueing in the sky and the quiet stillness of the thick blanket of snow is just perfect and sets the tone for the day or the week even! It brings out the hopeful optimism deep within and makes me feel like there is good in the world and it’s all around us, we just have to look for it.
Then I go and do something stupid like read The Daily Mail and lose faith in all of humanity. 🙄
This morning there is an article all about how to tell just how insane you are based on if you decorate too early, too late or never take your Christmas lights and tree down at all.

Apparently, I fit somewhere neatly in between being an overly optimistic, neurotic control freak to being completely dystopic and pessimistic with no hope whatsoever for the future of mankind.
So basically I am “normal” according to the Daily Mail. Which doesn’t necessarily make me feel better!
I am glad we got the decorations out over the weekend so hubby was here to help me with the heavy lifting. The tree is up, the little metal train set is out and polished and even has new batteries so its lights will flash and it will sing out a merry tune when you push the button.

We even made some hot chocolate and watched a couple of our favorite Christmas movies already, including The Christmas Candle, which to me says Christmas season has officially arrived!
When I was growing up it was when Charlie Brown’s Christmas special came on and the lazy susan on the coffee table was filled with hard candies and walnuts and oranges.
I would love to continue that tradition but we can’t do that around here…

Not that they’d mind me trying! 😄
Speaking of trying something new, I think I’ll make the pups some Christmas cookies if I can find a good recipe for that somewhere. If not, I’m sure I can wing something they’ll enjoy.
A beautiful view from the window…..and a beautiful dog too!
