Our Montana Trip: The Magic of Virginia City

The scenic views on the way there and back were only the icing on the cake (or the gravy on the mashed potatoes – we are, after all, Irish and from Idaho!). We both absolutely fell in love with Virginia City when we first went last year and couldn’t wait to return again.

Not only does it feel like you are stepping back in time, but there are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet there and some of the best food we’ve ever had. Luckily my mast cell medicines allowed me to indulge a bit without too much trouble.

Of course we went for the Irish festivities and weren’t disappointed. The Irish dancers were my favorite…

I also enjoyed the train ride over to Nevada City and back…

But the best part was making new friends and seeing all the antiques. I’ve never seen so many antiques in one place in all my life! Every where we turned, there they were…

I wrote all about this in my post from last year so if you’re into antiques, ghost towns and love all of that as much as we do, you’ll definitely want to check it out.

We’re hoping to go back again next year but as you know, with everything going on in the economy and the world, we are just taking things one day at a time. We are hoping for the best and preparing for the worst *just in case*.

It was nice to escape reality for a bit and I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially this sign at one of the restaurants:

Isn’t that the truth? 😄
