It may take me all week to recover from all the work we did over the weekend but in the end, it was totally worth it! I spent hours working in the flower beds weeding, planting seeds and adding new flower pots to make it look pretty…

On Saturday we drove over to the nursery to pick up a few things and when we got back we found a nest of starlings in the engine of the truck! We felt a bit bad about (re)moving them, but it had to be done…

I got some fancy new garden boots…

The pumpkins slept in the greenhouse overnight for the first time and seemed to do okay…

The trees were absolutely buzzing with the sound of honey bees doing their thing…

The murder hornets seemed preoccupied with battling each other for territory and generally ignored me, which was a relief! π

We finally got a break from the wind on Sunday and got most of our gardens planted. We put in the onions and garlic and potatoes and corn and lettuce and more carrots and beans. The strawberries seem happy in their new beds…

Everything else will go in over the next couple of weeks and then it’s time to sit back, relax and watch them grow. Well, in between weeding, pruning, fertilizing and frantically trying to protect them from wind, frost and who knows what else!
After we were done in the gardens we butchered a few pheasant and ended the night watching the lunar eclipse, which was spectacular…

Today I get to vacuum seal all the meat and do housework since it went undone while we were busy outside all weekend.
So much for my day of rest! π
We missed the lunar eclipse here in Indiana because of the storms and cloud cover. I love your pictures.

I nearly missed it because I’d gotten so busy I forgot all about it. Hopefully you’ll catch the next one.
