This last week has been a whirlwind of activity for us here at the empty nest homestead!
On Wednesday we took a short road trip a few miles south to pick up a pallet of dog food and another one of chicken feed, only to find that they didn’t have much on hand. 😯
Like most everywhere right now, supplies are on back order so we bought what they had and added our name to the list for delivery when the rest comes in. They weren’t sure when that would be and seemed a bit worried at their dwindling stock…
The views were pretty along the way.

We’ve rehomed all but three of the puppies now, I guess we’re a bit picky on who gets to adopt because we’ve had plenty of inquiries. We try to weed out people who aren’t familiar with the breed or who just don’t have the time and energy to invest in a husky.
They definitely demand a lot of both!
They sure are cute, but cute isn’t the best reason to get a dog is it…

I spent the last three days trying to ignore the news while sorting through our emergency food supply, taking inventory and taking notes on things we still need, which thankfully isn’t much now. I ordered some more stacking water cubes and made room for those and now I’m trying to decide if I should fill them up now or wait.

I really hate the thought that I probably shouldn’t wait, just in case. Still, there is peace of mind knowing that they’re there even if it means filtering river water to fill them with later. That’s one thing we won’t run out of!
It’s still brutally cold here overnight but should be warming up later this week finally. The pups don’t seem to mind! They sleep in their heated kennels and as soon as the sun is up they are out there having fun until it’s time to go to bed again.

They are so fun. I sure am going to miss them! 🥰
Love the pups and the winter adventures.

Is there a shortage because people are stocking up for the Apocalypse? I understand Putin has put his nuclear war machine on high alert.

I think the shortage has to do with supply chain issues before the Russia thing. Grain will now be even more scarce though, which isn’t good.

I just hope the powers that be can figure out the supply chain problem. I’m tired of stocking up on toilet paper.
