When I woke up this morning, I took one look outside and let out a big sigh for the first time in a long time. It’s just one of those mornings.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s lovely out there, but I would have preferred staying inside to admire it.
Some mornings it’s just too cold to want to get up this early, get dressed and head out to take care of things but of course I do it because the needs of this little homestead don’t take a day off.
All these living things have needs and their needs supersede my own.
Well, except maybe the starlings…

They can fend for themselves! 😄
Every day of every month of every year during every season, things have to be done.
“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays this homesteader from the swift completion of my appointed rounds.”
Or something like that.
It helps if I remind myself that in six months from now I’ll be living in a completely different world! It will be the polar opposite of the world I find myself in right now.
There will be goldfish in the little pond…

The flowers will be in full bloom…

The grass will need mowing…

The starlings will be long gone, leaving the feeders empty…

And in six months I’ll probably be complaining that it’s too hot out this early to do my chores! 😏
I understand your reluctance to go outside.
