Just before dawn this morning our young rooster decided today was the day to practice his crowing skills. It sounded more like a dying coyote but in time he’ll get it, I’m sure.

The sound woke the pups up, too, and they became restless so we had to get up and calm them down before we could settle back to sleep.

Of course that didn’t last because last night the hubs brought home some new dog toys and put them up on the top of the cabinet after showing them to them (bad idea!). So one by one, they spent all night waking up thinking about them and waking us up to let us know they were thinking about them.

They were shredded about three minutes after they got them (of course). 😅

I’m not sure why he keeps buying regular dog toys. These are not regular dogs. Huskies need industrial strength toys or none at all. Otherwise you may as well just hand your dollar bills directly to them to shred!

We went out first thing after breakfast and began harvesting the corn which we shared with the chickens and ducks.

They were busy digging in the new straw and taking baths in their little pond but were happy to take a break to accept some fresh corn.

We also shared some with the neighbors. They traded us for some tomatoes they grew so now I have a bunch of those I can dehydrate and also use for the hubbies salads and stuff.

Now it’s nap time and then we will wrangle the pups into their dog boxes and take them for a quick run up in the foothills this afternoon.

It will get their mind off of wanting to play with the ducks and chickens now that they shredded their new toys… ☺
