Six on Saturday: Morning Glories

It’s my first ever “Six on Saturday” post so I thought I’d share an update on my lovely morning glory girl who has been slowly taking shape this season.

She is in full bloom now with pink and purple morning glories and her dress is trimmed with alyssum in shades of pink, purple and white.

I wasn’t sure if she’d survive the heat wave we had earlier this year but she is doing just dandy now and turned out as beautiful as I’d imagined she would.

I don’t remember what prompted me to try using the old wire frame bust from my sewing room (which I had replaced with a sturdier version) but I’m so glad I did think of it.

I have a few other spots now that have morning glories blooming but I can honestly say she is my favorite.

I need to pinch a few of the dead blooms and leaves off but that has to wait until the stinging things go back to their nests for the evening so I can do it without risking my life.

Some of her vines are trailing out onto the grass, which is fine. The more the merrier (at least the spiders think so!).

Next year I plan to get my seeds going a couple weeks sooner so she has even more time to fill out.
