We love antiques so naturally we love to go poking around the local antique stores when we get a chance. Yesterday we headed over to one in particular that we hardly ever visit, mostly because it’s run by someone who likes to refinish everything.
Most antiques lose a lot of value and charm when they’ve been refinished so we’re not crazy about the practice. Still, we wanted to see what they have since we are looking for something in particular for the kitchen and I have to admit, it’s a really nice antique store from the moment you pull into the parking lot.
The business began in the 1970’s in an old brick schoolhouse and then they added the old barn later to expand.

And it is quite expansive inside. Most of the good stuff is in the barn itself, so we quickly made our way in there to get a peek at what they had to offer. We knew it would be filled to the brim with things we love.
Immediately we were drawn to the old skates…

And the old cook stove…

And the old sewing machine…

And the antique ice box…

By the time we found this antique wood chest the smell of the varnish was really getting to me, though…

It got so bad we had to cut our visit short so I could get out into the fresh air. My arms were breaking out with burning, red hives and I felt awful after just twenty minutes or so inside.
I guess I should have expected that, but as usual I pushed myself beyond my limits and paid for it for the next few hours. Still, it was nice to be able to spend a little while antiquing and hopefully we’ll go back out for more soon.
Just not there again. 😆
That looks fabulous. I love antique stores! Too bad you couldn’t stay longer. 😦
