My Purple Passion

I think it pisses God off when you walk by the color purple in a field and don’t notice it.

~ Alice Walker, The Color Purple

I definitely have a thing for purple, as I mentioned in my recent post about growing lavender. It’s always been my favorite color, and I’m pretty sure God loves it, too, since he gave us so many wonderful purple flowers in nature.

And if they’re not purple themselves, then they tend to go well with purple.

Varying shades of purple work well together, too, which is why I am planting this Blue Moon wisteria I ordered to grow up and over a trellis we’re adding by our purple front door. I can hardly wait! It’s supposed to rebloom each year, and is supposed to be hardy down to zone 5 so it should work for us. Fingers crossed!

It will be a perfect addition to the other purple flowers we already have growing here, like the lilacs…

And the periwinkles…

And the petunias and alyssum…

And of course the lavender which I’m still sorting out where to plant…

Eventually I want to be known as the crazy purple flower lady. I think it’s a noble goal. šŸ™‚
